David is an Edinburgh-based musician and composer.
Having an interest in composing for community groups and educational use throughout a career in teaching, he undertook a masters in composition with Professors Nigel Osborne and Peter Nelson in 2011.
Since then he has written in most genres with performances across Scotland and abroad.
Major works include a Clarinet Concerto, Viola Concertina and Orchestral pieces including “Skyline” commissioned by the New Edinburgh Orchestra in 2025.
He plays Double bass in several orchestras and helps administer the Edinburgh Society of Musicians.
His style might be characterised a ‘approachable modern’ but varies from melodic piano pieces to atonal or modal chamber pieces.
